If you would like to ensure an unforgettable summer holiday, you need to add some essential accessories to your outfits. When looking to pack light for your travel, capsule wardrobes are a very convenient option. Not sure what a capsule wardrobe is? It’s a small number of classic clothing models that go together and are suitable for any occasion. The same goes for accessories.
For example, sports shoes in a neutral colour match both comfortable jeans and delicate summer dresses. Make it easy - take your silver jewellery, it goes with almost any outfit.
If this is not you, and you prefer colours and shades, pairing your clothing and accessories can be a challenge. It is even more complicated when you have decided to travel with hand luggage only.
Here’s how you can choose your accessories.
Choose Matching Colours
Try to focus on a few main colours for your clothing. It could be two or three at most. This will smooth the way for choosing your accessories. You can complement your attire with a tint of an identical colour or a contrasting one. It will be an eye-catching outfit and will highlight your talent for combining colours.
Remember, you don’t have much space. You don’t want to pack a bunch of accessories in a mix of colours and styles that won’t go with your clothes!
Get Comfortable Shoes
Prepare two pairs of shoes – a pair of sandals and a pair of sports shoes. They will be the perfect addition to your sporty or casual style and will match your lovely airy summer dresses. Don’t forget flip-flops – you can tuck them along the sides of your suitcase.
Never buy brand-new shoes that you haven’t tried on beforehand! If you want to go sightseeing, you need a tried-and-true pair. Uncomfortable shoes and nasty calluses will ruin your coastal walk. While everyone else is taking in the beautiful views, you will be stuck on a bench. This is certainly not your idea of a summer holiday!
Add Hair Accessories
They add flair to your look and are great for hot summer days. Hairpins, hair clips, and scarves are light and easy to pack. Colourful turbans are multifunctional and protect your hair from the strong sun and salty seawater. Their impressive colours are reminiscent of the Caribbean, turquoise seas and white sands – oh, yes!
Try them on in front of the mirror at home. Which one goes with the colour scheme of your outfits? Put only the proper ones in the suitcase.
Consider Jewellery
Silver jewellery is my first choice. Every summer wear could be paired with silver rings, earrings, and a necklace. Get some handmade jewellery – they are single models and are usually very light. I personally find them very suitable for a holiday by the sea. You can buy them in different styles and designs - flowers, animals, or abstract shapes. Shove them in some corner of your suitcase or even in your handbag!
Do you fancy jewellery featuring seashells in all shapes? Browse the handcrafted bracelets and necklaces in the place you are visiting and buy from local artisans. On the way back, just wear them on. They will accentuate your bronzed complexion and you won’t have to worry about packing them on.
Don’t Forget Your Sunglasses
Where would you go without them? They are an essential summer accessory and should reflect your style. Cat-eye or octagonal glasses are currently trending. In case they are not your cup of tea, choose a classic model in black, white or neutral. It will make it easy to match them with your holiday clothing. Remember, get a pair of sunglasses with UV protection to make sure your eyes are safe.
Decorate Your Handbag
Why not embellish your bag with a charm? The bag accent will add more colour and cheer you up. The pearls, beads, and pompoms perfectly complement your style. Consider the predominant colour of your outfits or choose a bag charm in an achromatic colour. Handmade pendants are unique and set you apart. Plus, you can decorate your travel bag!

Find a Proper Summer Hat
A sun hat is a must-have accessory on sunny and hot summer days. There are multiple options to choose from, including hats with unique handmade decorations.
Some ladies prefer foldable hats and caps that fit into their luggage. Is your hat not packable? Don’t worry! Even large Panama hats fit in the plane’s overhead compartment /I am sharing a personal experience/.
